Proclaimed a National Park back in 1898, Mt Buffalo is one of Australia’s oldest and most beautiful National Parks. In the late 1800’s visitors would travel on horseback up to the plateau. Today, the drive onto the plateau takes just over 30 minutes from the picturesque valley townships of Porepunkah and Bright.
The awesome beauty of the park has changed very little over the years and your first visit to the amazing Mt Buffalo Gorge is sure to take your breath away. Situated just 100 metres from the beautiful gardens of the historic Mt Buffalo Chalet, you can often look out over a sea of clouds across to Mt Bogong and Mt Kosciusko in the distance.
Winter, Summer, Autumn or Spring, Mt Buffalo is a wonderful destination to enjoy the beauty of mother nature. In summer, the cooler mountain air makes it a pleasure to be active, while in winter the snow transforms the plateau into a novice and intermediate skiers paradise. The spring snow melt showcases the incredible array of waterfalls and autumn is a bushwalkers favourite, with cool crisp mornings and beautiful clear sky days.

The beautiful blue sky days, make it a pleasure to be out exploring the myriad of walking trails and scenic lookouts. When the sun sets, our magnificent granite boulders and outcrops glow a brilliant gold and the temperature drops. The cool evenings encourage people indoors around our cosy log fires, sampling local gourmet delights and the finest wines from the regions famous wineries.
